These exquisite jugs are the skilful work of Kashmiri crafts people. Providing employment for artisans in their own homes, this amazing work is completed by hand. The vibrant colours and delicate birds make these a beautiful accessory and gift.

As well as their primary function these jugs make stunning vases and look fantastic with our handpainted trays.

Green Tumblers designed by Padstow artist Susie Ray and made from the bottom half of a green wine bottle. Very popular glass and perfect for everyday use.

Packaged in a cardboard eco gift pack of 2 glasses. Each glass is cut, the edge ground and then melted to create a smooth surface to drink from. To make the glasses as strong and hard-wearing as possible they are then annealed in a long oven at varying temperatures for 2 hours.

From a cup ..... to a clock?

The entire ECO range from ashortwalk is designed, sourced and manufactured in the UK and made from recycled vending machine coffee cups. The cups are collected through a 'save-a-cup' scheme within the UK and are then cleaned, shredded and melted down into small pellets. Once in a pellet form, they can be moulded into a variety of products. Around 150 cups will go into making this clock.

South of Madras near the East Coast of India lies the small village of Allangkuppam. In an idyllic setting surrounded by trees and plants of every description, blessed with plentiful rainfall and a good local supply of china clay, lies the pottery unit. Here the master potter and a group of about 60 artisans, from local villages create a wide variety of ceramic items. Every step is done by hand, from when the raw clay is softened, formed on the potters’ wheel, fired in the wood burning kilns, glazed and finally packed ready for its long journey to the UK.

This labour-intensive project provides training in a craft and employment opportunities for members of an economically weak rural community. Thanks to the ceramic unit with WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation) member support and employees benefit from medical and insurance facilities. A school has been started in the village for 350 pupils under the age of 11, primarily for the children of artisans who work in the pottery, but also for children who live in the surrounding rural area.
